Cough syrup Pei Pa Koa maker enters healthy ageing space with NMN product
Nin Jiom, the Hong Kong-based company known for its cough syrup product Pei Pa Koa, has ventured into the healthy ageing supplement space with a NMN product set to launch in Singapore.
The single ingredient product which contains 200mg of NMN per capsule is set to launch first in Singapore via e-commerce in Q2 this year.
Speaking to NutraIngredients-Asia, Gustav Chan, director and general manager, Nin Jiom Medicine Manufacturing HK Ltd, said that the move was intended to diversify the company’s business while remaining rooted to its expertise in herbal and natural-based products.
Oat milk drink: New Zealand’s A2 and goat milk firm launches plant-based offering for toddlers
New Zealand infant nutrition firm Haven has expanded into the plant-based space with the launch of an oat-milk based drink for toddlers aged one and above.
The 100 per cent oat-based product will add to the company’s existing range of A2 and goat milk infant formula.
Using a singular oat-based protein could avoid sensory challenges such as a chalky aftertaste or grainy textures that could stem from the use of other plant proteins, such as pea, said CEO Kara Fleming.
Sleep benefits: Nestle China’s new milk powder for adult contains mulberry leaf extract, tryptophan
Nestle has launched a new milk powder containing mulberry leaf extract, tryptophan, vitamin B, and minerals in China to support sleep quality in adults.
Known as Yiyang Wanning (怡养晚宁), the milk powder contains five key nutrients, including tryptophan sourced from whey protein concentrate, mulberry leaf extract, magnesium, zinc, and is rich in protein. It is targeted at consumers aged 40 to 60.
Top-line data has shown that consuming the product could significantly reduce the time to fall asleep by about 15 per cent in the intervention group as compared to the control group.
Morinaga Milk introduces new multifunctional FFCs targeting bone and gut health, fatigue-relief amid growing demand
Morinaga Milk has announced its plan to roll out several new Foods with Function Claims (FFCs) that target the major health concerns of Japanese consumers and to meet the increasing demand for multifunctional products.
One of the new launches was “Bifidus Yogurt Bone Density Countermeasure Drink Type”, which contains Morinaga’s Bifidobacterium longum BB536 (B. longum BB536) and maltobionic acid to provide “double care for bones and intestines”.
From April 2, it will be introducing another FFC called PURESU Fermented Vinegar Drink, which contains acetic acid and B. longum BB536 as functional ingredients.
Rise of retro: Cheong Kwan Jang rides “grandmillennial” trend to launch red ginseng-infused traditional snacks
Korea Ginseng Corporation (KGC)-owned brand Cheong Kwan Jang has actively expanded its red ginseng snacks line-up to target young consumers amid a thriving retro craze.
“Haemaenial”, or grandmilllenial, is a portmanteau coined from a combination of halmae, which means grandmother in Korean dialect, and millennial. The term refers to the trend of young Koreans lapping up foods and other consumables traditionally enjoyed by the older generations.
The brand recently jumped on the bandwagon with its launch of red ginseng snacks, adding to its recent launch of Red Ginseng Ice Macaron – a macaron ice cream sandwich made with Cheong Kwan Jang’s six-year-old red ginseng concentrate.
