WATCH: APAC leading global probiotics e-commerce sales, with Malaysia the largest within SEA - Lumina Intelligence
A further breakdown shows that within the South East Asia, Malaysia is the largest probiotics e-commerce market, with Vietnam and Thailand trailing behind.
Indonesia, on the other hand, is the fastest growing market, albeit from a small base.
This is according to new data gathered by Lumina Intelligence – a market insights platform operated by William Reed, the publisher of NutraIngredients-Asia.
Its latest report “Probiotic Supplements in E-commerce” analysed the e-commerce market size, company, brand, and e-commerce retailer market share of 25 global markets – of which, 10 are from APAC, including four South East Asian markets.
With its robust e-commerce ecosystem, China is no doubt the largest probiotic e-commerce market in APAC, followed by Japan.
Within South East Asia, Malaysia is the leader, with Vietnam closely behind.
“Asia is a region of opportunities for growing both big brands and new brands. Competition is very high in established markets, but the competitive landscape is still changing, especially in the e-commerce space in the less established markets such as South East Asia.
“Therefore, it is now a good time to enter South East Asia and secure a strong position in the e-commerce space,” Ewa Hudson, director of insights at Lumina Intelligence told NutraIngredients-Asia.
In fact, the report has showed that regional and local brands are fast rising in capturing the market share.
